• City Considers Mountain Biking in Depew Park (peekskillherald.com) — Peekskill officials are weighing whether to repeal a long-standing ban on pedal bikes and some e-bikes in Depew Park, potentially opening marked and maintained mountain biking trails for residents and youth programs. The council is also clarifying where bicycles are allowed along the waterfront trail system, with public hearings and legal review planned before any final decisions on safety and access.
• Amazon Returns To OCIDA For Tax Incentives; Final Mid-Hudson Momentum Funds Awards; Fioravanti Joins Regional Food Bank (rcbizjournal.com) — Peekskill is set to receive $3.25 million in state Mid-Hudson Momentum funds for the SoLo project, a mixed-use, transit-oriented development near the Metro-North station. The plan calls for 231 apartments, including 100 affordable units, plus new commercial space and streetscape upgrades along Louisa and South streets to better connect downtown with the waterfront.
• Westchester BOL Approves New Tax Relief for Surviving Spouses, Service Members and Disabled Veterans (yonkerstimes.com) — Peekskill homeowners who are surviving spouses of fallen first responders, disabled veterans, or active-duty service members in combat zones could soon see significant county property tax breaks under new Westchester laws. Starting with assessment rolls after October 1, 2026, qualifying residents may receive exemptions of 25 to 100 percent on their primary residence, recognizing their service and easing financial strain.
