PEEKSKILL, NY — A probe into drug trafficking at a public housing complex came to a conclusion with a raid on a Westchester home this week.
Three Peekskill men were arrested on Thursday following the three-month investigation led by the Westchester County Police Department Narcotics Unit, with assistance from the Peekskill Police Department Detective Division.
The investigation focused on suspected narcotics activity at the Dunbar Heights complex in the City of Peekskill, according to law enforcement officials.
The investigation culminated Thursday in the execution of a search warrant at a home on Highland Avenue in Peekskill. Approximately six ounces of cocaine, 34 grams of oxycodone, several rounds of ammunition, and drug paraphernalia, including scales and packaging materials, were seized, according to police.
"The Westchester County Department of Public Safety remains committed to aggressively targeting illegal narcotics activity through coordinated law enforcement efforts and continued partnerships with local and federal agencies," Westchester County Public Safety Commissioner Terrance Raynor said. "We are grateful to the Peekskill Police Department for its collaboration in this investigation."
Omar Travis, 59, and Rodney Jones, 57, were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, and criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell. Kristopher Gaffney, 57, was charged with felony tampering with physical evidence.
Two of the suspects were arraigned in Peekskill City Court. Travis was remanded to the Westchester County Jail and Jones was released on his own recognizance. Gaffney was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Peekskill City Court on Nov. 5.
