In the next three weeks, cat lovers will be treated to two great shows in one great city! First, on November 19th and 20th, the Westchester County Center in White Plains will host the 36th Annual Westchester Cat Show, which features cats dressed as people!
Then beginning December 9th, the White Plains Performing Arts Center will present one of the world’s best loved musicals, “CATS”, which features people dressed as cats! These two non-profit groups have become supporting partners in bringing these two great events to the Westchester area, something that seemed purr-fectly logical!

Attendance at both shows would support animal shelters AND the arts in Westchester and the two non-profits hope that is exactly what every cat lover will do!
A highlight of the Westchester Cat Show is when show cats dressed in fabulous Meow Wear cat couture light up the stage at the County Center at 2pm each day.

And once the cats dressed as people leave town, actors and actresses dressed as fabulous cats will be pawing their way into 11 City Place (3rd Floor, City Center) to begin their presentation of “CATS,” which will run from December 9th through December 30th.
“CATS” is an opportunity for area cat lovers to see a Broadway caliber performance of their favorite show at half the Broadway price. For schedule and prices for “CATS”, visit: www.wppac.com or call the box office at (914) 328-1600.
The Westchester Cat Show is so pleased to partner with CATS in getting the word out to White Plains and the surrounding area about these two great events!
The Westchester Cat Show is one of the most prestigious shows in the Northeast, showcasing hundreds of championship cats and kittens from many of the 55 breeds recognized by The International Cat Association.
Making its debut at the Westchester Cat Show will be a Pixie-bob. The Pixie-bob breed resembles the North American Bob Cat with its brown spotted tabby coat, black fur and skin on the bottom of its paws, tipped ears with heavy ear hair, black lips, white fur around the eyes, and, of course, as its name indicates, a bobbed tail.
Pixies are very active, social and intelligent, and they play well with others. Pixies don’t often meow, and some never do. Chirping is essentially their language with a few chatters and growls thrown in.
Almost all Pixie-bobs like to stay close to their owners and follow them around. This is a very unique kitty indeed!
There is so much for cat lovers to see and do at the Cat Show. Plenty of holiday shopping abounds for your cats and cat loving friends at the many vendor booths selling all the latest cat products and accessories, and free expert advice about your cat can be gotten at the “Ask the Vet” booth.
Noted cat therapist Carole Wilbourn will give a presentation on “Reiki for Cats,” and there will be other informative lectures on TTouch behavior training and on pet bereavement. Children can sing happy birthday and hand out gifts to the cats seeking adoption at the “Shelter Cat Birthday Bashes.”
Those willing to open their hearts and homes can actually adopt one of the wonderful little creatures. And, on Saturday at 3:00 pm, following the Feline Fashion Show, the non-profit Westchester Feline Club, producers of the cat show, will crown the 2011 “Cat of the Year.”
Hale Bop, the feline fashion world’s first supermodel, who has graced many a cat walk and appeared in hundreds of publications and TV shows around the world, is their very fitting choice. Don’t miss seeing the glamorous Hale Bop!!!!
