Bear Mountain Bridge Road To Close For Maintenance

The four-name road, twisting and narrow, will be shut down.

CORTLANDT, NY — The Goat Trail, also known as Bear Mountain Bridge Road, which is also both US Route 6 and State Route 202, will be closed Tuesday through Thursday. Crews will be performing maintenance on the narrow, twisting road between Route 9D (at the Bear Mountain Bridge) and Route 9 (Annsville Circle).

The work is scheduled to be done from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily July 18 - 20.

Follow the posted detour, but expect delays and plan accordingly.

The detour for eastbound motorists will include traveling north on Route 9D to Route 403 east to Route 9 south to Annsville Circle.

The detour for westbound motorists will include traveling north on Route 9 to Route 403 west to Route 9D south to the Bear Mountain Bridge.

Use caution when traveling through the work zone area and pay particular attention to flaggers and all traffic control devices, including signs.

Remember, fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
