'Beyond Comprehension,' 44-Year-Old Peekskill Man Admits To Yearlong Repeated Sexual Abuse Of Young Girl: DA

PEEKSKILL, NY — A Westchester man will go to prison for sexually abusing a child over a period of months.
Westchester County District Attorney Susan Cacace announced that 44-year-old Medardo Reyes, of Peekskill, pleaded guilty on Friday to felony first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child.
He is expected to be sentenced to 12 years in state prison, followed by 20 years of post-release supervision, when he is sentenced on Feb. 24. He will also be required to register as a sex offender.

Between June 2023 and October 2024, Reyes engaged in two or more acts of sexual conduct with a child under the age of 13 years old.
"What the defendant subjected the victim to, in this case, is beyond comprehension. I am so proud of her for having the courage to report his abuse," Cacace said. "Her bravery will ensure that Mr. Reyes will spend a significant amount of time behind bars for his disturbing conduct."

"We owe all children in Westchester County our greatest efforts to provide them a safe, nurturing environment to grow into adulthood," the DA added. "Apprehending those who abuse and exploit children remains my top priority in this office."
The investigation was conducted by the Peekskill Police Department, and the case is being prosecuted by Senior Assistant DA Stephanie Baehr, of the Special Prosecutions Division.
