100 Reasons I Love Peekskill - Post 8
Magician and Acupuncturist Margaret Steele blogs about living in downtown Peekskill. Today: introducing my next-door-neighbor and best friend, Alexis Cole!

My pal Alexis. My next-door-neighbor in downtown Peekskill is the amazing jazz singer Alexis Cole. She's also my best friend. Even if she didn't live here, I would still love Peekskill. But Alexis enhances the experience exponentially. She's warm, energetic, huge-hearted, adventurous and hilarious. She's also in the Army! As Sergeant Alexis Cole, she sings with the Jazz Knights at West Point. A Peekskill contingent usually troops to her shows. (Go hear them this Sunday, August 14th at West Point's Trophy Point @ 7:30. It's free!) She also sings (impersonating a civilian) all over the area, including the Division Street Grill every Wednesday evening and St. George's Winery once a month.
Alexis' windows overlook my terrace. Sometimes when I'm outside working on my computer, she'll send a text - "Lunch on the terrace in 5 minutes?" Then she'll arrive with two heaping plates of food. It does not get any better than that.
But that's the tip of the iceberg. In future posts I'll describe some of our adventures and collaborations, including the amazing magic illusion we've now performed half a dozen times. Because Alexis isn't just one reason I love Peekskill - she's at least ten.
