Buchanan Voters Change Village Trustees, Keep Mayor

The voters gave the incumbent mayor another term, but went a different direction on the town board.

BUCHANAN, NY — Voters in the village of Buchanan gave the incumbent mayor another two-year term but chose new trustees.

According to unofficial results, Mayor Theresa Knickerbocker bested challenger Trustee Sean Murray 307 to 183.

Steven C. Laker and Daniel Stewart came out ahead of incumbent Trustees Richard Funchion and Nicolas Zachary.

The vote tally was:

  • Daniel Stewart: 265
  • Steven C. Laker: 260
  • Richard Funchion: 235
  • Nicolas Zachary: 223

Village Justice Jennifer Daly ran unopposed for re-election.

There were two propositions on the ballot as well. Voters approved the establishment of a 10 percent reduction of assessment for members of the volunteer fire department and licensing of games of chance.
