Thursday Matinee Film Series; Movie Favorites: "Get Shorty" (R)

Join us upstairs at the Library in the Community Room. No registration required.

Educator and Film Series facilitator Victor Messick and “Movie Favorites” are back for six Thursdays starting October 15.

Thursday Matinee regulars John, Bob, Claudia, Del, Rick, and Faye will share one movie each from their list of favorites and with Victor’s help will facilitate the discussion afterwards. Come watch a movie, stay for the discussion and maybe you’ll leave with a new movie to add to your list of favorites!

Get Shorty: Chili Palmer (John Travolta) is a Miami mobster who gets sent by his boss, the psychopathic Bones Barboni (Dennis Farina), to collect a bad debt from Harry Zimm (Gene Hackman), a Hollywood producer who specializes in cheesy horror films. When Chili meets Harry's leading lady (Rene Russo), the romantic sparks fly. After pitching his own life story as a movie idea, Chili learns that being a mobster and being a Hollywood producer really aren't all that different. (1995) (1h45m) John has selected this as one of his favorites. He will join us to talk about why after the film.
