Thursday Matinee Film Series: Movie Favorites: "The Wizard of Oz" (G)

Join us upstairs in the Community Room. No registration required.

Educator and Film Series facilitator Victor Messick and  “Movie Favorites” are back for six Thursdays starting October 15.

Thursday Matinee regulars John, Bob, Claudia, Del, Rick, and Faye will share one movie each from their list of favorites and with Victor’s help will facilitate the discussion afterwards. Come watch a movie, stay for the discussion and maybe you’ll leave with a new movie to add to your list of favorites!

The Wizard of Oz: When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy (Judy Garland) and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz. They follow the Yellow Brick Road toward the Emerald City to meet the Wizard, and enroute they meet a Scarecrow that needs a brain, a Tin Man missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage. The wizard asks the group to bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West to earn his help. (1939) (1h41m) Faye has selected this as one of her favorites. She will join us to talk about why after the film.
