Celebrating HV Seniors: Youth Coach Headed To Temple University

CORTLANDT, NY — Many senior students in the Hudson Valley were expecting to celebrate their final year with prom, graduation, and other milestone events. However, the new coronavirus crisis has meant that dreams and long-awaited celebrations have been put on hold.

Patch would like to shine a light on these amazing young people and their accomplishments; a new series "Celebrate Your Senior," inviting proud parents and others to spotlight the young people whose accomplishments can't be derailed by the pandemic.

Tom Katz nominated Christopher Katz, a senior at Walter Panas High School in the Lakeland school district.

Here's what the proud father had to say about his son:

I would like to celebrate my senior, Christopher Katz, from Walter Panas HS. I am very proud of the young adult he has grown into.

Throughout his high school career he has always taken AP and Honors classes to challenge himself. While taking difficult classes he has played baseball, football and basketball. He is a selfless person who also spends his time coaching younger kids in baseball and flag football. For the last 3 summers, he has worked as a baseball coach/counselor at a local baseball camp.

Chris is planning on continuing his college career this fall at Temple University where he will be studying Criminal Justice and joining the ROTC.
