Chains V Small Businesses: What Cortlandt, Peekskill Folks Want

PEEKSKILL, NY — Everybody wants a Trader Joe's. That's the conclusion you can draw from looking at the 96 comments in response to Peekskill-Cortlandt Patch's question on Facebook"What business do you wish would come to town this year?"

There's a stand-off between the people who would love national chains including a Target, an Olive Garden, a Christmas Tree Shop, and the folks who really don't want them.

There are also some interesting ideas: a rollerskating rink, a wine bar, a quilt shop and more.

Specially notable: a request for a nice bar/pub in Cortlandt.

Now there are great pubs in Peekskill — the Birdsall House, the Peekskill Brewery, The Quiet Man, the McDonald and Peacock Cider House to name just a few. Heck, the Taco Dive Bar is great!

Plus there are pubs in Cortlandt. Just off the top of our head, Savannah and Company, AJ's Bar and Grill. And good bars at good restaurants, too. (More if you count Mohegan Lake.)
