An alert employee contacted the state police when he went to the second bank.

CORTLANDT, NY — New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks charged Davon Hinds, 24, with Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument in the 2nd Degree, a Class D Felony.

Police said their investigation revealed that Hinds was in possession of forged $1,000 checks that had been drawn on a New York City man’s bank account. Hinds attempted to cash the forged checks on July 10 at Citibank locations in Yorktown and in Cortlandt. An alert bank employee contacted the State Police when Hinds attempted to cash a fraudulent check at the Cortlandt Citibank Branch.

The NYC resident was arrested and arraigned Monday by Honorable Gerald Klein at the Town of Cortlandt Court and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or bond.
