Cortlandt Car Crash Leads To Drug Charges
State police allege the driver was impaired and in possession.

CORTLANDT, NY — Police investigating a single-car crash on Red Mill Road ended up arresting the driver. At 4:50 a.m. March 15, New York State Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision in the town of Cortlandt.
The troopers observed a 1999 Honda Civic that had struck a tree and utility pole.
During the interview, they said Devon M. Anderson, 23, of the Bronx showed signs of impairment. Continued investigation concluded Anderson was operating the vehicle while impaired by drugs, they allege. Search of the vehicle discovered over nine grams of Oxycodone Hydrochloride, approximately 9.6 grams of Alprazolam bars, and multiple small baggies of marijuana totaling approximately 8.6 grams, police said.

Anderson was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4th degree, a class C felony, Criminal Sale of Marijuana in the 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor, and Operating a Motor Vehicle While Impaired by Drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor.
Anderson was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court and sent to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $3,000 cash bail or bond.
