Cortlandt Expands Military Banner Display Area
When the banners are taken down, they are given as a keepsake to the family or business that sponsored them.
CORTLANDT, NY — The town of Cortlandt has expanded the display area for its military tribute banner program to include Broadway in the hamlet of Verplanck.
The area extends from 3rd Street to St. Patrick's cemetery, according to town officials.
The program, which is in its third year, is a tribute to honor and thank all the brave men and women who have defended the United States and fought for American freedoms.

"We are proud to support this program and appreciate those families who have previously participated by ordering banners for their loved ones," town officials said.
Banners will continue to be displayed along Route 9A near the VA Hospital in Montrose and along Oregon Road — Locust Avenue to Hollow Brook Golf Club — in the northern part of Cortlandt from Memorial Day through Veterans Day.
