Cortlandt Man Forced Himself On Victim: Police

He also resisted arrest, state troopers said.

CORTLANDT, NY — A Cortlandt resident faces a variety of charges including burglary, assault, forcible touching, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

State police said they were called to Henning Drive about a burglary in progress at 5 p.m. Sunday. They say they learned that Andrew J. Ortner entered the dwelling illegally and forced himself on a victim.

Police said the 34-year-old resisted arrest at the scene while being taken into custody. Then, he damaged state property with his head while being processed, before being restrained by troopers.

He was arraigned and sent to the Westchester County Jail on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.

Orders of protection were issued by the court for all members of the residence he had broken into.

The charges are: Burglary in the 2nd degree, a class C felony, Assault in the 2nd degree, a class D felony, Forcible Touching, Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, and Resisting Arrest, all class A misdemeanor.
