Cortlandt Memorial Day Ceremony Plans Have Been Announced

CORTLANDT, NY — With America celebrating its 250th anniversary this year, Memorial Day events in Cortlandt could have a more patriotic bent than in previous years.

Memorial Day Weekend runs May 23-25, with the holiday itself falling on Monday, the 25th.

Memorial Day is traditionally a somber recognition of soldiers who died in the Revolutionary War and the American Civil War, fought to establish and maintain freedom and liberty for all, and in every war with U.S. involvement since.

The town of Cortlandt will be holding a Memorial Day Ceremony on Friday, May 22.

Town of Cortlandt officials said they will be acknowledging and thanking all the veterans for their service to the United States, especially those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. in the Vincent F. Nyberg General Meeting Room at Cortlandt Town Hall, located at 1 Heady Street, in Cortlandt Manor.

Light refreshments will be served.
