Cortlandt, Peekskill To Hold Veterans Day Ceremonies

World War I ended 101 years ago Monday.

It's been 101 years since World War I ended on Nov. 11, 1918. The first local event to honor all those who have or are currently serving in the U.S. military is in Peekskill, with American Legion Post No. 274.

The Peekskill ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Park at the intersection of North Division Street and Highland Avenue. Afterward, guests are invited back to the American Legion Hall at 936 McKinley St.

Cortlandt will hold its ceremony at 12:30 p.m. at the Muriel Morabito Community Center, 29 Westbrook Drive, Cortlandt Manor. The 89th Army Band, New York Guard, will perform.

While it is a national day, on Monday, Bee-Line buses and Paratransit will operate on a weekday schedule.
