Cortlandt Senior Sentenced in Wife Shooting
The charges were lowered to attempted assault from attempted murder.

Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced that Mario Vallorosi of Cortlandt Manor, New York was sentenced today to three-and-one-half years in state prison for shooting his wife.
On June 15, 2013 at about 4 a.m., the defendant shot his wife at close range with a shotgun at their home at 10 Udell Court in Cortlandt Manor.

Their adult son, who was also in the house at the time of the shooting, heard a noise and found his mother lying on a sofa in an upstairs computer room. He called police.
State police responded, gained access to and secured the house.

The victim was removed to Westchester Medical Center with severe injuries to her abdomen and chest. The defendant was arrested at the scene by New York State Police.
He was indicted in September 2013 on two counts of first-degree assault and one count of second-degree attempted murder, all felonies.
Now 78, Vallorosi pleaded guilty Aug. 20, 2015 to one count of Attempted Assault in the First Degree, a class “C” Violent Felony,
Along with the state prison sentence, the defendant was sentenced to five years of post-release supervision.
Assistant District Attorney Laura Murphy of the Superior Court Trial prosecuted the case.
