Cuomo Orders State Probe into Indian Point Operations

His order comes after the 13th unplanned shutdown at Indian Point in the past 3 1/2 years.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo directed State Department of Public Service CEO Audrey Zibelman on Wednesday to immediately begin a full investigation of the operations and safety protocols at Indian Point Nuclear Facility.

The Governor’s action comes after the unexpected shutdown of Indian Point Unit 3 on Monday.

State officials said that was the 13th unplanned shutdown at the facility since June of 2012.
