Small Electric Fault, Fire at Indian Point

Entergy declared and terminated an Unusual Event notice.

CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Control room operators at Indian Point's Unit 2 declared and subsequently terminated a Notice of Unusual Event Tuesday morning, the lowest of the NRC’s four emergency classification levels, following an electrical fault on a cable that carries electricity between both operating units at the site.

A small fire on the cable self-extinguished moments after the fault occurred, plant officials said.

There was no impact on plant operations and no injuries as a result of the event. Both plants continue to operate at full power.
