Entergy Returns Indian Point Unit 2 to Service

The unit was shut down Friday to deal with a welding issue.

Buchanan, NY – Control room operators returned the Indian Point Unit 2 nuclear power plant to service Monday afternoon, sending electricity to the grid.

The unit was shut down Friday morning to complete weld repairs to a pipe and to allow workers from Con Edison to test a breaker in a switchyard located near Indian Point. The breaker can be tested only while electricity from Unit 2 is not being sent to the Con Edison-owned switchyard.
