Fender-Bender Leads to Assault Charges, Jail for One; DWI, Hospital for Another
The incident occurred in Mohegan Lake March 14, state police said.

New York State Police were dispatched to East Main Street in Mohegan Lake at 8:30 p.m. March 14 for a report of a 2-car collision.
When the troopers arrived they learned that the driver of a 1996 Honda, Alvin T. Banks, 52, of Cortlandt, had backed into a 2006 Honda CRV and attempted to flee the scene. Following a detailed investigation, they determined that Banks was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
He was subsequently charged with Driving While Intoxicated, a Misdemeanor, and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Auto Accident.
They also observed that Banks had sustained a head injury that was inconsistent with a minor crash. Police believe that Banks had been assaulted by Glenn Gennodie, a passenger in the CRV, when Banks attempted to leave the scene.
Banks was transported to Hudson Valley Hosptial by Mohegan Lake EMS. Due to the severity of his injuries—a head injury and a broken jaw—he was later transported to Westchester Medical Hospital.
