Furnace Woods Elementary Students Race to Donate

Furnace Woods third graders learned a valuable lesson after reading “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein and discussing the importance of giving to others. The students collaboratively came up with the idea of donating to people in need during the holiday season. Students from all three third grade classes participated in a “Race to Donate,” in which they contributed non-perishable foods, toiletries and pajamas to the Jan Peek Shelter in Peekskill. Said one student, “it makes my heart happy to give to families who don’t have the things we take for granted every day.”
