Global Electrical Contracting Firm Seeking NY Apprentices

PEEKSKILL, NY โ€” An international firm based in the Hudson Valley will conduct a recruitment from March 13 through March 19, 2019 for electrician apprentices. The 24 openings listed for apprentices represent the total number for three recruitment regions โ€“ the Hudson Valley, Long Island, and New York City.

USIS's electrical business is part of a portfolio including Technology Services, Electrical Contracting, AudioVisual Systems, Security, Wireless Services and Training Services.

Applications will be available at USIS Electric, Inc., 35 West Jefferson Ave., Pearl River, NY, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 to 4 p.m., excluding legal holidays, during the recruitment period.

You must apply in person. Applications must be received no later than March 19, 2019.

The Committee requires that applicants:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma (such as TASC or GED), including one year of high school algebra.
  • Must be physically able to perform the work of the trade, which may include:
    • Pulling cable.
    • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
    • Carrying 25 pounds.
    • Climbing ladders.
    • Standing 90% of the day.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from various job sites and related instruction classes.
  • Must be a resident of Orange, Putnam, Rockland, or Westchester county in New York, or Bergen County in New Jersey.
  • Must pass background check and drug screening, at the expense of the sponsor, after selection and prior to indenture.
  • Must provide DD-214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty, if applicable, after selection and prior to indenture.

Apprentice programs registered with the New York Department of Labor must meet standards established by the Commissioner. Under state law, sponsors of programs cannot discriminate against applicants because of race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, or marital status. Women and minorities are encouraged to submit applications for apprenticeship programs. Sponsors of programs are required to adopt affirmative action plans for the recruitment of women and minorities.
