New York State Senator Pete Harckham will be holding a food drive from 12 p.m. (noon) to 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 28 in the parking lot of Southeast Town Hall, 1360 Route 22, Brewster, NY. Click here for a map.

“Too many people across all of our communities are still facing food insecurity and hunger because of the economic problems caused by the coronavirus pandemic,” said Harckham. “In each of the food drives we have held so far, the level of generosity we have experienced is inspiring and gratifying. Neighbors are helping neighbors.”

Along with members of his team and a group of volunteers, Harckham will be collecting food that will be donated to the Putnam Community Action Partnership (CAP), which helps feed some of the neediest members of the community, including many seniors.

Harckham has held four food drives in the past few weeks—one each in Sleepy Hollow, Peekskill, Mount Kisco and Mohegan Lake—and collected nearly 27,000 pounds of food items and over $8,500 in cash donations so far. Hundreds of residents from the 40th Senate District have volunteered to help at the food drives as well—“a real grassroots show of support,” said Harckham.

Please note: This will be a “Drive-Thru, Drop Off” event. No food will be distributed; it will only be collected. Volunteers wearing face masks will collect the food from the car. There is no need to get out of the vehicle.
