From Hendrick Hudson Schools: Hendrick Hudson High School junior Paul Williams placed third in the category of Medicine and Health on April 1, 2019, at the New York State Science and Engineering Fair (NYSSEF) at the New York Hall of Science in Queens, NY.
The annual fair brings together students, teachers, scientific researchers, corporate executives and government officials from around the world. Paul’s project is about engineering nanoparticles with specific characteristics so that they can destroy cancer cells at the site of tumors in the body. Paul will be continuing his research over the summer at Memorial Sloan Kettering in New York City. “Paul’s project is very promising, using nanoparticles to specifically visualize, target and destroy cancerous tumors,” said Dr. Christine Rogers, science teacher and director of the school’s three- year Science Research program. “I cannot wait to see how his project will evolve.”
