Hen Hud Hosts Elementary Math Night
Second of three programs to be held at Furnace Woods School on Jan. 22
The next Hendrick Hudson School District Elementary Math Night is Thursday, January 22, at Furnace Woods School, from 7 pm to 8:30 pm.
“One of our goals this year is to encourage parents from all three schools to attend all three math nights, since each will feature different topics,” said Principal Cynthia Kramer of the Furnace Woods School.
Parents who are planning to attend should RSVP by emailing Principal Kramer (Cynthia.Kramer@HenHudSchools.org) the number of attendees and grade level(s) of their child(ren).
Math Nights are a proactive way for the district to help parents engage with the new math strategies that evolved from the Common Core Learning Standards. When parents feel more at ease with the new material, they are better able to help their children grasp the concepts that are required for both homework and classroom learning.
“Math night is a time for teachers and families to celebrate elementary mathematics in today’s classroom. Best practices emphasizing the curriculum and helpful suggestions to assist your child at home will be the focus,” said Belin Masterson, Math Facilitator for Hendrick Hudson.
The remaining Elementary Math Night date is May 7, at Frank G. Lindsey School. Flyers with more detail will be sent home with students.
