Hen Hud Students Go Green at Community Garden

Environmentally-minded students from Hendrick Hudson High School volunteer at local community garden.

Members of Henrick Hudson High School’s Green Team recently volunteered their time to stain the compost bin at the Town of Cortlandt’s Community Garden at Lake Meahagh Park in Verplanck.

The Lake Meahagh Community Garden was created this past spring, and the high school’s Green Team members have been involved since its opening, learning gardening basics alongside community members and team advisor, science teacher Stephanie McQuade.

The Green Team is hoping to build a teaching garden at Hendrick Hudson High School in the future. In the meantime, team members work on a dedicated plot at the community garden, where they are growing spinach, Swiss chard and other leafy greens.
