CORTLANDT, NY — Hendrick Hudson High School senior James Reilly has been named a Semifinalist in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Competition. Seniors Matthew Klimek, Adhithya Rajasekar, and Julian Yu have been named Commended students.

More than 1.5 million juniors in about 21,000 high schools entered the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

Commended students placed among the top 50,000 of the more than 1.5 million students who took the PSAT. They demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success.

The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.

About 16,000 Semifinalists were named earlier this month. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered in the spring.
