Hen Hud's Acting Superintendent Is Retired Pelham Schools Chief
He'll be at Wednesday's board meeting, his first since Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter took a leave of absence.

CORTLANDT, NY — Now running operations in the Hendrick Hudson School district is Dr. Dennis Lauro, a retired schools chief from Pelham.
He'll give his first superintendent's report Wednesday when the Board of Education meets in the Hendrick Hudson High School library, starting with an executive session at 6 p.m. The public meeting starts at 7.
Lauro was hired as Acting Superintendent on a temporary basis. Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter is taking a leave of absence.

The trustees met Monday to vote on an employment agreement with Dr. Lauro effective Feb. 20 and extending to June 30. He is being paid $1,600 a day plus mileage and business expenses. He will not receive fringe benefits such as health insurance, pension or retirement contributions.
Hochreiter informed the school community during the winter break that the Board of Education had granted his request to take time off, effective Monday, The Examiner reported, saying he appreciated their understanding.
