Hendrick Hudson

Voters in the Hendrick Hudson School District overwhelmingly approved the 2015-16 school district budget on May 19.

The final count was 580 Yes and 154 No.

The annual Bus Proposition also passed, 562 Yes and 168 no.

Hendrick Hudson Superintendent Joseph Hochreiter was very pleased with the results, saying, “I am impressed and encouraged by the overwhelming support of this budget. I applaud the Board and staff for finding innovative ways to tighten the belt and find efficiencies in order to balance our instructional needs in a cost-effective way.”

Incumbent School Board trustees Mary-Pat Briggi and Laurie Ryan ran unopposed and were re-elected.

The Hendrick Hudson Free Library vote, which appears on the same ballot as the school district, but is otherwise unrelated, was Yes - 576, No-139.

“The community, once again, has spoken in support of our schools, programs and staff,” Hochreiter continued. “I am thankful for such support, which will ensure that we continue to provide world-class programs for kids as we continue to work toward becoming a Destination District!”

Board Seats:

Lisa Aspinall-Kellawon: 505 Votes (winner)

Colin Smith: 550 Votes (winner)

Ramon Fernandez: 371 Votes

Lakeland

Lakeland school district voters approved the 2015-16 spending plan. There were 877 ‘yes’ votes and 248 ‘no’ votes.

The transportation proposition also passed overwhelmingly.
