Husband Charged With Felony Endangering Disabled Person In Probe After Wife's Death: Peekskill Police

An investigation began in April, 2024, when officers responded to a medical emergency that led to the death of a Peekskill woman.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A Westchester man is facing a felony charge after an investigation into the death of his disabled wife, according to police.

Randy A. Gordineer was arrested on Feb. 9, and charged with endangering the welfare of an incompetent or physically disabled person.

The investigation began on April 14, 2024, when officers from the Peekskill Police Department responded to a medical emergency on Crompond Road. At the scene, Peekskill EMS told officers that the woman requiring assistance had died.

EMS also told officers that Gordineer, the dead woman's husband, was present at the scene and had reported the medical emergency. During the initial response, officers reported observing circumstances surrounding the death that appeared suspicious, prompting a more thorough investigation.

The Peekskill Police Department Detective Division conducted the investigation in collaboration with the Westchester County District Attorney's Office. They received assistance from the Westchester County Police Forensic Investigation Unit and the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office.

Through the course of the investigation, authorities determined that the dead woman was physically disabled, and was described as being incapable of adequately caring for herself. This investigation also led to the charge against Gordineer.

Gordineer was held pending arraignment in Peekskill City Court following his arrest.
