HVCCA Teams-up Artists with Students for Mural Collaboration at Woodside Elementary

The mural is open for public viewing during Peekskill's Open Studios on Saturday, June 4 from noon until 6 p.m.

Students at Woodside Elementary School participated in a large scale mural project with artists Andrew Barthelmes, Geoff Feder, Lance Johnson and Donna Mikkelsen as part of Hudson Valley Center for Contemporary Art's In-School Artist Residency Program.

The program, which brings artists into the school to work with students, aims to enhance and enrich Woodside's standard curriculum. With the support of Principal Colleen Hardiman and her staff, the artists worked with the students to create a mural based on the wonderfully diverse community of Peekskill. Students had hands on experience working with artists, painting, collaging, drawing and writing.

The mural is open for public viewing at the school during Peekskill's Open Studios on Saturday, June 4 from 1 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Transportation will be provided. Please see the attached flyer for more information.
