July 4th DWI, Drug Charges For Cortlandt Man

CORTLANDT, NY — A Cortlandt man who police say was driving drunk also faces drug possession charges after an Independence Day traffic stop.
At about 3:20 a.m. Wednesday, New York State troopers conducted a vehicle and traffic stop on a 2015 BMW on Lockwood Road in Cortlandt for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
They allege they found the operator, Akintunde Akinleye, was driving while intoxicated, and that further investigation found Akinleye possessed approximately 15 grams of cocaine, and over 40 grams of marijuana.

New York State Police charged Akinleye, 30, with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class B felony, Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the 5th degree, a class B misdemeanor, and Driving While Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor.
Akinleye was arraigned before the town of Cortlandt Court, and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or bond. Akinleye is next scheduled to appear before the Court on July 9, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.
