Lakeland Educators Discuss Their New Book
Local educators discuss their new book to standing room only crowd at Barnes and Noble

The authors of Education is Special for Everyone: How Schools can Best Serve all Students gave a presentation, along with a book signing on Oct. 14 at the Barnes and Noble in Mohegan Lake. They signed books until the books were sold out. The standing room only event also included a discussion about the book and collaborating with authors who shared their passion for educating the next generation.
Three of the four authors have ties to the Lakeland School District: Janet D. Mulvey, Ph.D., former principal of Van Cortlandtville Elementary and educational director of the Oasis Program at Pace University; Karen Gagliardi, Ed.D., principal of Thomas Jefferson Elementary; and Kathryn F. Accurso, Ed.D., second grade teacher at Van Cortlandtville Elementary. Bruce S. Cooper, professor emeritus of education at Fordham University, and author of nearly 40 books, was the fourth author of this book, which challenges the current educational policies.
