Letter to the editor:

On Tuesday, November 5, 2019, voters will have the opportunity to vote for Westchester County Legislator for District 9. I write you in strong support of Robert Outhouse, who has been endorsed by the Republican, Conservative, Independence, and Green Party lines. I would like to share my thoughts about this great man whom I’ve known dating back to my days as a New York State Senator. Bob is a decorated, retired Westchester County Police Detective and has continued to be force in the community as a volunteer Firefighter, EMT, and advocate for first responders.

As Governor, I appointed Bob to the New York State Arson Board in 1997 and he served on this board until 2007. He was instrumental in assisting the State Fire Administrator in supporting several pieces of legislation; Arson in 5 th degree; the Fire Safe Cigarette Act; the unlawful burning of the property of another; and the Arson Criminal History Check for members wishing to join volunteer fire departments, legislation that I’m proud to say I signed into law. Today those laws have helped New Yorkers across this great state. Bob also served as a member of New York State Arson Survey Committee. This committee conducted an intensive review of how the crime of arson was being investigated across the state. Arson Control Plans determines funding for counties and municipalities. This survey has become a model to many others states across the country, and a copy of this survey has been placed in the Library of Congress. In his capacity today, he continues to fight hard for legislation that affects our volunteer community members.

As a board member, he also was a strong supporter of The New York State Fallen Fighter Memorial which now stands in the Plaza in Albany honoring those firefighters who lost their lives in the performance of their duties and service.

In closing, I have no doubt, that when elected to the County Board of Legislators, Bob will continue to represent all the citizens of his District and the County with distinction, enthusiasm and desire. It is with great honor I endorse Bob’s Candidacy for Westchester County Legislator, and it is my sincere hope that you will vote from him on Election Day and benefit from his vast knowledge and experience.
