The lunchtime collision in the Hudson Valley involved a van and a tractor-trailer, police said.

CORTLANDT, NY โ€“ A lunchtime collision involving a van and a tractor-trailer Monday sent two Long Island men to the hospital. One has life-threatening injuries, police said. The crash took place on Route 9 north of Annsville Circle in the Hudson Valley.

New York State Police from the Cortlandt barracks were dispatched to the collision at 12:15 p.m. July on Route 9 at Roa Hook Road. Police said their preliminary investigation indicates that Steven M. Huffman, of Kerhonkson, was traveling northbound on Route 9 when a Ford van, operated by Miguel Belony Jr. of Oyster Bay, initiated a left turn from Roa Hook Road onto Route 9. Police said he failed to yield the right of way.

Huffman, who was operating a Kenworth tractor trailer, struck the van. It overturned. The tractor-trailer crossed the highway and came to rest on the westbound shoulder.
