Man With Bat and Cleaver Causes Disturbance At Cortlandt Walmart

CORTLANDT, NY — A man with a butcher knife and a baseball bat caused a disturbance at the Walmart in the Cortlandt Town Center on Tuesday, police said.

Officers were called to the shopping center at 12:37 p.m. They said the man, 29, was causing a disturbance, and was wielding both a bat and a meat cleaver or butcher knife.

He was taken by emergency medical personnel to Phelps Hospital Center in Sleepy Hollow for further evaluation.

Police said it is not believed the subject assaulted or menaced any person in the store; no injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
