Mikey Migliore Receives Anne Walker Scholarship from Federation of Musicians

Scholarship honors a musicians' advocate

For excellence in music, high school achievements and activities, and for pursuing a Music degree at an institute of higher learning, on June 6, Mikey Migliore was awarded The Anne Walker Scholarship from the American Federation of Musicians, the largest organization in the world representing the interests of professional musicians.

Migliore, the son of two professional musicians, will follow his parents’ footsteps, pursuing jazz studies at SUNY Purchase in the fall among a cadre of professors whose names read like a who’s who of contemporary jazz masters.

At HenHud Mikey was a member of the Wind Ensemble, String Orchestra, Chorus, Pit Orchestra, Jazz Band, several select All-County ensembles, and even had time to start his own funk band!

The scholarship honors a fiery advocate for musicians whose more than 30 years of work for the NYC AFM division were cut short by a tragic automobile accident in 1996. At the time, Anne Walker was administrative assistant to the president, supervisor of the Music Prep Department and administrator of the Local 802 Sick Pay Fund.
