'Mixing Art and Art History' on View at the Flatz

Check out the window installation on Main Street and make time to go inside for the exhibit.

Artist Marcy B. Freedman’s exhibition and installation ”Mixing Art and Art History” is on view through Jan. 31 at The Flatz, 1008 Main St. in Peekskill.

The exhibition and installation, and an interactive performance that took place Jan. 9, demonstrate the various ways in which she has combined her dual passions for art and art history, Freedman said.

Freedman is a visual and performance artist with two master’s degrees in the history of art, and much of her artistic output reflects her academic background. For example, the exhibition inside of The Flatz will include collages that appropriate famous paintings by masters such as Leonardo da Vinci and Picasso. For the window installation, Freedman said she has created a new body of work in which images from the history of art are accompanied by provocative questions – intended to arouse the curiosity of people on the street.
