Mount Kisco's Tommie Copper Settles Complaint for $1.35M

The payment settles a Federal Trade Commission complaint.

A Mount Kisco-based athletic apparel and accessories company has agreed to pay more than a million dollars to settle a Federal Trade Commission complaint.

Tommie Copper said it will pay $1.35 million as a penalty, an NBC News article said.

The manufacturer sold about $87 million worth of elbow, ankle and wrist sleeves that contained copper between the years 2011 and 2014.

The FTC said the company had no science or data to back up claims that wearing clothing would get rid of pain, NBC News reported.
