NRC May Schedule Additional Virtual Meeting On Indian Point

Storms and technical difficulties prevented some from hearing Thursday's meeting if they called in by phone.

Another virtual meeting on Indian Point's decommissioning plan may be scheduled after there were phone problems during Thursday's session.

PEEKSKILL, NY โ€” Virtual attendees of Thursday's Nuclear Regulatory Commission meeting about Indian Point's decommissioning may not have been able to hear the session via the phone.

Because of that, a spokesperson for the commission said there may be another virtual meeting in the future for those who were inconvenienced.

According to a Facebook post, the NRC said the meeting to solicit comments on the decommissioning roadmap report, held at the Sleepy Hollow Hotel and Conference Center, included access by phone to the proceedings.

"Unfortunately, local storms and technical issues involving the telecommunications carrier and equipment resulted in remote participants encountering audio problems," the post said.

Until the virtual meeting is scheduled, the public should be aware that the session transcript and meeting summary will be made available soon.
