NYSP Seeking Information About ID Theft

Police said the victim lost a wallet in a local Walmart and began seeing fraudulent credit card charges.

CORTLANDT, NY — The New York State Police are investigating identity fraud in northern Westchester County.

Troopers from the Cortlandt barracks are asking for the public's help in locating someone they believe used a victim's identity to make purchases in stores in Cortlandt and Ossining.

Earlier in December, police said, a person reported losing a wallet in the Walmart on East Main Street in the Mohegan Lake area. Shortly after the loss, the person said they received several fraudulent credit card charges.

Investigators were able to obtain security camera images of someone they think used the victim's identity.

Anyone with information regarding the possible identity or location of the person in the photos is asked to call the New York State Police at 914-769-2600. Reference case No. 10578265.
