In honor of Memorial Day, Oakside Elementary students used their artistic skills to show local veterans just how much Oakside children appreciate our vets’ service to our country. Over 100 students handcrafted cards and notes which were brought to the Montrose Veterans’ Home by the project’s organizer and Oakside teacher, Martha Lynch. The cards were then distributed to the Home’s residents who were excited to receive the children’s thoughtful notes.
“It’s very meaningful for our veterans to receive these cards,” said Victoria Pagano, a Recreational Therapist at the Montrose Veterans’ Home. “It puts a smile on their face for them to know that they are remembered.”
