Officially Autumn, Actually Hot, Humid In The Hudson Valley

HUDSON VALLEY, NY — Despite what the calendar says, summertime is holding on in the Hudson Valley. The heat index will climb close to 90 degrees.

"Heat and humidity will surge back into the mid and upper 80s for highs Monday afternoon," said Alex Marra and Bill Potter of Hudson Valley Weather. "That will feel roughly 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of year. Buckle up for a hot and humid start to autumn."

A cold front is expected to bring a little relief Monday night. This will include a chance of showers this afternoon; showers become likely for most of the tri-state area tonight. There may also be a few rumbles of thunder.

On Tuesday, partly sunny weather should come in, with high temperatures still around 5 degrees above normal.

Humidity levels will stay high.

• Tonight-Mostly cloudy with showers likely with a chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then partly cloudy with a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 60s. West winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the evening. Chance of rain 70 percent.
• Tuesday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the afternoon.
• Tuesday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the lower 50s. Northwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 20 mph in the evening.
• Wednesday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 70s. West winds 5 to 10 mph.
• Wednesday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 50s.
• Thursday-Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 70s.
• Thursday Night-Partly cloudy in the evening, then clearing. Lows in the lower 50s.
• Friday-Sunny. Highs in the mid 70s.
• Friday Night-Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 50s.
