One Dead in 4-Car Accident on the Taconic State Parkway
A Croton-on-Hudson man was killed in Putnam Valley Aug. 4.

State police report a 4-car accident near Peekskill Hollow Road yesterday at 6:20 p.m. killed Joseph Nagy of Croton on Hudson.
Witnesses told police that Nagy, 28, was traveling north on the Taconic, driving erratically and at a high rate of speed.
The Half Moon Bay resident initially sideswiped another northbound vehicle before hitting the center guard rail and then another northbound vehicle. Debris from his vehicle crossed into the soutbound lane causing damage to a southbound vehicle, police said.

Nagy, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from his vehicle,. An open bottle of vodka, marijuana and prescription pills were also located in his vehicle and are suspected as contributing factors for the accident, police said.
He was flown by Lifenet Air 2 to Westchester Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:35 p.m.

The operator of one of the other vehicles hit by Nagy complained of back pain and was transported to the Putnam Hospital Center for evaluation.
The Taconic was closed both ways near Peekskill Hollow Road until approximately 3:30 a.m. as Troop K Crash Restruction Unit investigated the circumstances of the crash.
An autopsy is scheduled at Westchester Medical Center Aug. 5, police said. The Putnam Valley Fire Department and the Putnam Valley Volunteer Ambulance Corps assisted state police at scene.
