Peekskill To Appoint New Superintendent At Next Board Meeting
The board is expected to hire someone from the Buffalo Public Schools.

PEEKSKILL, NY — The Peekskill City School District has chosen a new superintendent. Dr. David Mauricio, who is currently serving in the Buffalo Public Schools, is expected to be appointed by the board of education at its April 10 meeting.
Mauricio will be stepping down as Buffalo’s chief of strategic alignment and innovation to start in Peekskill July 1.
In a letter to the community, the board of education said it sent an onsite visitation team of board members and others, and “they corroborated what we learned from all of the previous interviews, which is that Dr. Mauricio possesses the attributes, experiences and proven successes that are consistent with the Peekskill City School District’s mission and our core values.”

The board said a more detailed announcement introducing Mauricio to the community will be made after his formal appointment.
A reception will be held in his honor at a future date.

Mauricio will be joining Interim Superintendent Dr. Lorenzo Licopoli in visiting the schools April 10.
