Peekskill Appoints New City Manager
Matt Alexander, the city's comptroller, will take over as city manager.

PEEKSKILL, NY — A new city manager for Peekskill has been selected by Mayor Vivian McKenzie and Common Council.
Matthew Alexander, the city's comptroller, was appointed the new city manager at the council's March 28 meeting.
He will be taking the place of Andrew Stewart who left in mid-March to become Nyack's village administrator.

Per the city charter, Alexander will assume residency in the city of Peekskill for the time he is city manager.
He said he thanked McKenzie and the council for appointing him.

"I have enjoyed working in Peekskill and look forward to leading the city in its continued growth and revitalization as city manager," Alexander said.
McKenzie said the city was excited to have Alexander become city manager and continue its working relationship with him.
"Matt's leadership, attention to detail and enthusiasm makes him the perfect fit to lead our city forward," she said.
Alexander was mayor of the village of Wappingers Falls before being appointed Peekskill's comptroller in December 2020. He was appointed acting city manager after Andrew Stewart was injured in a car accident.
He is co-founder of Stone Bridge Antiques in Wappingers Falls and holds bachelor's degrees in accounting and liberal studies.
