PEEKSKILL-CORTLANDT, NY — Voters in Peekskill and Cortlandt had several choices to make on election day Tuesday, and it looks as if Democrat Vivian McKenzie is the apparent mayor-elect in Peekskill.

With 63 percent of the precincts reporting, McKenzie was leading Republican Emiliano Perez 62 percent to 35 percent, according to unofficial results.

The three Democrats running for Common Council appear to be the top vote-getters: incumbents Dwight H. Douglas and Ramon A Fernandez and Robert R. Scott.

In Cortlandt, Councilman Richard Becker has a substantial lead over challenger Laurie Abbate Ryan, with 64 percent of the votes reporting, according to unofficial results.

The contested races include County Legislator districts 1 and 9, the mayor and two common council members in the city of Peekskill and the Cortlandt town supervisor, council members and clerk.

All votes are unofficial.

City of Peekskill proposition

  • The Field Library is requesting voter support for a $75,000 increase in the 2022 operating budget of the library to offset revenue loss from the COVID-19 pandemic, to meet minimum wage increases, and to fund operating expenses relating to its expansion. Additionally, this increase will allow the library to increase the programming and materials budgets to provide quality services and averages a $3.48 annual increase per Peekskill household for the year.
