Peekskill Elementary Students Visit Manhattanville College

The trip was part of the Peekskill City School District's initiative to prepare their youngest students for college.

Woodside Elementary students recently spent time touring the Manhattanville College campus in Purchase, NY. The college, which partners with the Peekskill City School District to offer professional development, welcomed the children to tour the school’s library, lecture halls, art studio, science labs, dorms and the student center. Woodsiders also enjoyed lunch in Manhattanville’s historic Reid Castle. The trip was part of the Peekskill City School District’s initiative to instill the idea of college early in students’ academic careers.

“We’re giving them the chance to see into their futures,” said Woodside Assistant Principal Jackie Liburd. “The younger children had a great time and were fascinated with everything they saw. And the college students were thrilled to see the little ones on campus and gave them high fives.”
